Back to School | Classroom Decor | Math | Reading | Winter | Writing
Next year, we will begin using the Common Core Standards. Kindergarten began last year in our school district and now it’s time for 1st grade. We are really just beginning to learn about them. We’ve had one 1/2 day meeting so most of what I know is from researching them myself and trying to muddle my way through them. For the most part, I feel that Indiana’s previous standards covered most of the Common Core Standards, so that helps. The biggest difference will be our report cards. I want to make sure that I truly know if my students are meeting each standard so I wanted a way to assess them.
I created this packet that I have placed into a Math Assessment Binder.
This is my binder. {Sorry about the poor quality of the pictures.}
I have placed everything into page protectors.
This packet includes whole class charts for tracking progress as well as individual student charts.
Each standard is included as well as at least one assessment per standard.
Every standard is printed out and then the assessment(s) are placed after the standard.
Some of the assessments I plan on giving as a whole group, while others I will pull back students individually. In this case, I will probably just have them write with dry erase markers on the page protectors to save on copies.
As I’ve said, this is our first year using Common Core so this is all trial and error at this point. I may be adding to this packet later on as well 🙂
You can check out it out by clicking below.
I am currently working on a Common Core Language Assessment packet for 1st grade as well.
Did you use Common Core this year or are you just getting started as well?
Last year our district started Common Core Reading with Kindergarten and now all grade levels are starting Common Core in both math and reading!

Learning Is Something to Treasure
I love this! I'm so sad that I'll be teaching 2nd next year.
Your packets are wonderful
This looks awesome!
My school is having a big pow-wow this month to discuss the new "direction" our curriculum will be taking due to the implementation of the Common Core Standards and the fact that we probably didn't make AYP again {the joys of Title 1.} I have no idea what that means for me or my current teaching plans. However, I may NEED this packet. It's on my wishlist until my big meeting. Thanks for all of your hard work!

I love how organized you are. Thanks for sharing.

First Grade and Fabulous
This looks wonderful! Any chance you'll be making a second grade version? 😉 (I teach a combined 1st/2nd grade class) I think I'll purchase yours for my firsties and use it as an example to create my own for 2nd! Thanks for your hard work on this product!
We are just getting started too. I will have to share your packet with my district meeting in mid july. Your products are fantastic so I'm sure it will be amazing too.
We trained in Common Core last year, and assessing was the hardest part! This packet looks great!

Peace, Love, and First Grade
Jodi, I love this and hope to buy it when I have the funds. I'm new to blogging and have just made a spreadsheet for the common core standards first grade. I would gladly give it to you, if you wouldn't mind giving me some feedback and looking for any errors I made. I'm not sure you have the time or interest, so it's okay if you'd rather not. Any other first grade teachers who are interested, let me know. I'll take the first 2 or 3 people to offer.
Thanks,
Joell W.

I feel about the same way as you do in regard to how my state/rsu has already addressed the standards…it is a comfort to know you're already most of the way there and just have to do a little tweaking and adjusting…thanks for sharing!!

Fun in Room 4B
Love this! Can't wait until the Language Arts packet is avaliable! We're just getting started this upcoming school year. A little nervous..but WE CAN DO THIS!!
HI Jodi, We did not use CC this year. WE are all starting this coming fall. That was pretty smart to ease into it. I just got an email today, that not only will the report card be changing, but all of the formative assessments as well. It's a tad overwhelming. I love the binder idea, it helps to keep things organized.

That is some pretty amazing work! We don't do CCS in my district in Texas…I think I'd be a big scaredy cat if I had to. But I know where I'd go if I did…right here!

A Passion For Primary
Your stuff is, as always, amazing!!! We haven't adopted the Core Standards in TX though I'm sure we could weave anything that you've created into what we're doing.
I was touched by your Have A Heart donation/project! SO glad to hear your brother-in-law is healing.

The Corner On Character
Hello,
I just created a spreadsheet for tracking student scores on the first grade common core, both Language Arts and Math. I gave this packet of yours a shout out on my page hoping people might like to combine the two things. I hope that's okay.

Totally Terrific Teaching
What program do you use to make these? I just started putting a few things I made on TeachersPayTeachers, but they look very boring compared to yours. 🙁
I would love to see a copy of your new report card! I teach at a small private school, and we are in the process of rewriting our report cards now. It would be nice to have some ideas of how other schools/districts have done theirs. TIA!
